Statement of Faith

Here’s what we believe at Ignite: Church

  1. We believe in One God, equally existent in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit.) Acting all in one, acting on our behalf. Each is a very distinct person, but all of one spirit. (Ephesians 4: 5, Genesis 1: 1, John 1:1, Acts 2) We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired word of God, written down and recorded, in which we base our faith, doctrine and conduct of life.

  2. We also believe that all believers should be educated in the Bible, knowing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2: 15, 2 Timothy 3: 16-17) We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for all of our sins, and that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day, with all power in His hand. We believe that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone. (Luke 1: 26-33).

  3. We believe that Communion, the LORD’s Supper, The Breaking Of Bread, The Sharing Of The Cup, etc. are all a sharing in the body and blood of Jesus Christ and should be partaken regularly, but with a heart of forgiveness, after praying to God for the forgiveness of sins. We believe that this act is symbolic of the LORD Jesus Christ’s broken body and shed blood for our sins. (Matthew 26: 26- 30, Mark 14: 22-25, 1 Corinthians 11: 23-33).

  4. We believe in Water Baptism as a sign of conversion and in the likeness of Jesus Christ. We also believe that this act of faith and testimony should be conducted in the form of immersion, and in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and/or in the name of Jesus, for the remission of sins. Furthermore, salvation at the altar bowed in prayer is a prerequisite of Water Baptism. (Matthew 3: 13-17, Ephesians 4: 5).

  5. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as in the evidence of speaking in tongues as on the day of Pentecost. From this we receive power. (Acts 2, Acts 1: 8, John 16: 12-13).

  6. We believe that ever Christian has the power and the right to pray directly to God, and stands in no need of an intermediary such as a Pastor. We believe that every Christian has access to prayer through Jesus Christ and that there in no mediator between us and God none other than Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 4: 14-5: 2).

  7. We believe that marriage is an institution ordained by God to unite a man and a woman in their shared agape love. (Genesis 1: 26- 28).

  8. We believe in the divine gifts of the Holy Spirit as edified in Bishops, Pastors, Teachers, Evangelists, Prophets, Overseers, Deacons, And Elders each having a very specific and defined gift to the individual ministry and is an essential part of that ministry. (Ephesians 4: 11, Acts 15: 22).

Historic Creeds of Our Faith

The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth;
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
